Coping with Panic Attacks

Panic Attacks

Panic attacks usually happen when our anxiety and ability to cope with life is too high. Over time, our anxiety levels rise slowly, which we may not be aware of until we hit crisis point and panic takes control.

Panic is a feeling of sudden and intense anxiety.

Our primitive mind senses this danger and responds to this panic through our flight, fight or freeze mechanism, also known as our ‘Acute stress response’ and this can happen around old patterns of behaviour and new patterns when we least expect it.

We need to look at drastically reducing our anxiety levels because, if left, the body will continue to trigger our acute stress response in situations and continue to create panic attacks. This can leave us reluctant to do things or go places, potentially making us prisoners in our own home.

Understanding our body’s natural fight, flight or freeze response is a way of coping with panic attacks. Through hypnosis and brain based explanations, we can learn how our brain triggers these responses and start to look for ways to calm down and relax our bodies. Reducing the anxiety and enabling us to think rationally.
